Special election coverage

Unofficial results show Troy Balderson the winner of the August Special Election, but the race is so close there will be a recount.  Provisional and absentee ballots will continue to be counted through August 17th.  According to the Secretary of State’s Office once the canvass has been completed by every county, which must be done by August 24, the most populous county board of elections – Franklin County – will certify the official results.

But the campaigning isn’t over.  The special election will fill the seat until November when the two candidates, Troy Balderson (R) and Danny O’Connor (D) will square off again in the General Election to determine who will represent the 12th Congressional District beginning in January for the coming two years.
